It was bound to be announced sooner or later. From the end of next year (2022), non-EU (Schengen-zone) visitors will need to fill out a €7 application to get in. The application is called ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) and it's the equivalent to the US ESTA or the Australian ETA: Still, don't complain fellow Americans, it's cheaper than ESTA for us Europeans :))
This part of the article will appeal to a lot on the forum.
Eligible travellers will have to fill out an online application before they arrive, which costs €7 or is free to under-18s or over-70s.
This was announced a month ago. Look at the date of the article.
Oh yea! I'm free, lol!! Thanks Mona!
TBH, I would not mind paying 7E.
ETIAS is set to come into force before the end of 2022.
So, no change. Hasn't finally arrived. Still no date.
I think I can afford that…..
Appreciate someone keeping an eye on it!
It should take only a matter of minutes to fill out the form - which
will require biometric passport information and travel details, as
well as some basic security questions. But travellers are advised to
apply at least 72 hours before they need it just in case of any
delays.Once your application has been approved it lasts for three years -
which is good news for frequent travellers, although it must then be
renewed.
Asks for travel details, then last for there years. Huh? Cause my travel details will change a lot over 3 years.....
Quit being obstinate. Lol. We could be dead in 3 years and it won’t matter…..
I feel like someone will realize we don’t know our travel plans three years in advance. Ok, maybe I do…. But most won’t. 🤣
and the US citizenship application use to ask if you were a commie or a prostitute.
