Fiction based in Spain, especially Castille and Andalusia regions

In addition to travel guides and brief history, I like to read fiction based in a country/region/state that I'm visiting. Perfect examples, "All the Light we Cannot See", based in Paris and Saint Malo and "Invisible Bridge", based in Budapest and a bit in Paris and other areas. Well, now I'm going to Spain--Andalusia, Segovia, Toledo and a very short time in Madrid. Can I get some suggestions for fiction based in these areas? I know there are quite a few based in Barcelona, but I'm not going there on this trip. I do plan to read "The Alchemist", and I think I'll be the last person on the planet to read that book, but though its based on an Andalusian shepherd I'm not sure how much actually takes place in Spain. Any type of fiction, really, "deep/thought provoking", romance (though Harlequin type probably going too far), mystery or ???? I'm probably most interested in books based in the last three or so centuries, but I'm open to lots of ideas. Oh, and sadly, I only speak/read English.

There are a bunch of suggestions right on this website. Choose Explore Europe from the left panel, then Spain and Plan. One of the options is recommended books and films.

I enjoyed reading The Alchemist before my trip last year to Andalusia.

I didn't see this on the list and it's Catalunya so it doesn't quite fit... but The Cathedral of the Sea is a great story (historical fiction) set in Spain (Barcelona).

It's not fiction, but the book "Isabella: The Warrior Queen" talks about Queen Isabella of the late-1400s. It reads like fiction in some points and I learned a ton. That is set almost entirely in Andalucia and Castille. So you might enjoy it!
