Just wondering how far in advance I should book ferry tickets to from Tarifa to Tangiers. We will be going there mid September - we will not be taking a car across.
We bought ours on the day, there was no difference in price. It would appear that everyone else was buying on the day as well.
Thanks - also does anyone have suggestions for a guide once we get there.
We used this guide https://guidehamid5.wixsite.com/tangiertourguide
Hamid is an excellent guide, very good with communication prior to the trip. He met us straight off the ferry and directed us to his air conditioned van with driver. We spent several hours touring the sights, taking in lunch and the markets before he returned us to the port and stayed with us until the ferry arrived. I would suggest informing him beforehand what you are interested in and what you don't want to do. We were a bit unprepared and were happy to be guided by him but we had no interest in riding camels or watching snake charmers (snake annoyers), using animals for human entertainment is not our idea of fun. I raised it with him after lunch (in a nice way!) and his response was that he is happy to do whatever you want but as most tourists want to do the camel rides etc that's what he had planned for us. He will also take you to friend's shops in the markets but you're not obliged to buy anything despite the hard sell by the traders. Hamid speaks perfect English, is very knowledgeable and affable and has been a tour guide for many years. I have no qualms about recommending him to others.
