Feedback on November Andalucia Itin - Travelling Solo

I'm going to Andalusia in November and I'd like to get some feedback on my itinerary. I'm trying to figure out if I should spend more or less time in any of the cities I'm planning to visit.
I know it'll be low season, so I'm particularly worried about how sighseeing the Pueblos Blancos will work out. I went to Sicily in the winter two years ago. It was a great way to beat the crowds, but the small towns seemed largely closed for business. I'd like to do two day trips to the larger pueblos, and I'm wondering if that makes sense.
I don't want to rent a car, so the itinerary is based on train/bus connections. I'm wondering if I should start buying train tickets ahead of time. When I planned my last Italy trip, I booked intercity tickets ahead of time because they seemed more expensive as the travel date got closer. I'm wondering if that's the case in Spain as well.

Thanks in advance for all your feedback!

Kad,
You don't say where you will be traveling from, but I presume you're traveling from the US, since you will arrive to Malaga the day after your departure.

Anyway, have you booked your flights yet?
If not, it would be best to book a "multi-city" ticket, to avoid backtracking; you could fly into Malaga & out of Sevilla or vice versa.

If you've already booked your flight tickets to/from Malaga, then I'd suggest traveling to Ronda & spending 1-2 nights there, instead of traveling to Córdoba & taking day trip to Ronda for the following reasons:

  • Travel time from Malaga to Ronda is much shorter, than travel time Malaga to Córdoba.
  • Traveling to Ronda from Córdoba as a day trip, would take almost 2 hours each way, -- too long IMO.

Here is some useful information:

  • You can take a 'Los Amarillos' bus from Malaga >> Ronda: https://regular.autobusing.com/venta
  • Check for dates in August to see bus schedules, since November schedules have not been published yet.

This is the route I'd take:

  • Malaga >> Los Amarillos bus to Ronda >> Los Amarillos bus to Sevilla >> AVE train to Córdoba >> bus or train to Granada >> Malaga

Make sure you book your Alhambra tickets way in advance, for best time selection: http://www.alhambra-patronato.es

Have a wonderful trip!

A few more thoughts....

I just realized that you have 11 nights to work with on this trip, so this means that you'll only have 10 full days to explore Andalucía.

Do you realize that you don't have much time to visit all the cities on your list?
You want to visit 6 destinations in such a short time frame... I'd suggest limiting your trip to 3 cities at most.

If you're flying in/out of Malaga, I'd suggest the following itinerary:

Malaga >> Ronda (2 Nights) >> Sevilla (5N) >> day trip to Cordoba >> Granada (3N) >> Malaga (1N)

Keep in mind that each time you relocate, from one destination to the next, you will lose at least half of that day.

  • 5 nights in any one place = 4 full days to explore said destination, however, if you want to take day trips, then subtract one day for each day trip.
  • 4 nights = 3 full days
  • 3 nights = 2 full days
  • 2 nights = 1 full day, etc, etc...

I think most people want time to relax & explore a destination of their choice, rather than spending much of their time sitting on a train or a bus ;-)

Thanks for your advice!

Yes, I have bought my tickets already. I'm flying into Malaga from the east coast of the US.
I was originally thinking of going straight to Ronda from the airport, thinking a sleepy town would be a good place to hang out and get over jetlag. I looked at a transportation options though, and the buses leave Malaga infrequently (14:00 on Autocares Sierra de las Nieves, and 16:00, 17:00 on Amarillo). I'm landing around noon, and I'd like to get into my hotel and crash as soon as possible. Trains to Cordoba take around an hour, and they leave much more frequently. I'll be pretty jetlagged, and I'd like to get to where I'm staying as quickly.
To some extent, I'm trying to figure out if I want to visit the pueblos blancos at all. It'll be November, and I suspect the pueblos will be pretty deserted. They look lovely to hang out in, but the main goal of my trip is to spend time in Cordoba, Sevilla and Granada.
