Hi,
FC Barcelona will be playing Real Madrid on December 4th. What is the likelihood of being able to get tickets for this match the week before?
Thanks

Nearly none, sorry, much less only a week in advance, and has little to do with the amount of money you're willing to pay. This is one of the highlights of the league, few open seats are available at Nou Camp stadium for it and they've very sought after. The selling is very much first come, first serve.
FC Barcelona is not a typical company like many other sports clubs, in fact, it's not a company at all but a sort of social club. The club is owned by its +100,000 members. They pay their annual duties which includes, of course, a seat in the field. So it happens not all members go to all the games thus the club has a sort of mechanism in place by which any member can "free up" his seat and share part of the profits with the club if the seat is sold for that game. See more info: https://www.fcbarcelona.com/members/card/seient-lliure-information Unfortunately, the number of free seats for certain games is negligible. Then, of course, the Club also reserves a number of seats for "commitments" (authorities, VIP guests, sponsors...) but unless you're one of those commitments you can't access to that bag of seats either.
Your best chance is to be ready for when the seats for that game open up online. Keep checking their website. Right now the few ones on sale range from 2000 to 4000€ (https://tickets-fcb.fcbarcelona.com/fcbarcelona/en_US/entradas/evento/6678/session/375831/step1r2). The closer to the game, the more seats that might be available --believe it or not some members sacrifice this game in order to get a chunk of the annual membership paid off. So you are going to see cheaper prices than that, but again, certainly not the week before, those are for the desperate ones willing to pay anything.
Good luck.
Thanks Enric, that's what I thought would be the case.
Some platforms are also in the "trade game" if you catch my drift. Only use the most reputable ones though in order to avoid disappointments. One being Viagogo, but the tickets aren't cheap either: http://www.viagogo.com/Sports-Tickets/International-Soccer/Spanish-Premier-League/FC-Barcelona-Tickets
I know it's not the same, but if you're going to be a few days around, why don't you just attend another game? There games every few days and another less important one can cost less than 50€. If the aim is to see the stadium and a game, that should suffice and be more affordable too. And in case you can't attend to a "big" one, at least you can peek the ambiance here, a little over 102000 spectators, LOL.... http://infocatalonia.eu/w/FqLm8
Thanks again Enric. Can you recommend a place to watch the Real Madrid match on TV with the local fans, maybe a sports bar type place? We are staying near the stadium at the Hilton.

REAL f***ng MADRID????.... no mate, you're not welcome here if you're following "that" team, LOL!!!!!
There are plenty of places in town to watch football games, but honestly, I wouldn't know which ones are best for games with RM fans.... I'm not such a football fan so I don't know the scene too much -and we wouldn't want to point you to a den of hardcore FCB fans while wearing your RM jersey, would we? :)))... Most of the places I know are naturally full of Barça fans... what else? ha! When in doubt I would probably head to an English pub, you're more likely to find there a mixed crowd, or else head to a "peña" (fan club) of RM followers in Barcelona. Maybe in RM's website you can get more info on that: http://www.realmadrid.com/en/fan-clubs Hey, this is not to say you can't "safely" go to a den of FCB fans with your RM jersey, huh? we're quite civilized here... but again, there's always the odd moron, so... you know, better safe than sorry, right?
On a more serious side now, I would like to give you a bit of backround:
While this is only a game (like someone once said: 22 adult children in shorts kicking a ball) you should know that there's much more to that here. For reasons that would be now too long to explain, since the beginning of football in Spain in the early 1900s, the games FCB-RM have always been very politically charged, as a continuity of the ongoing power struggle between Catalonia and Spain. It's obvious to point out that RM embodies Spain while FCB does so for Catalonia. Several times during the two more recent Spanish dictatorships --in the 1920s and then from the 1940s to the late 1970s-- the FCB stadium has been briefly closed down by the Spanish military purely for political reasons in order to punish FCB followers (for singing the Catalan national anthem, gosh what a crime!). As recent as 2015 (yeah, 2015!) there were some voices in the Spanish government calling for yet more punitive measures for people expressing their feelings: http://fusion.net/story/141468/2015-copa-del-rey-final-athletic-club-barcelona-basque-catalan-independence/ In that instance, the clubs playing, Atletico de Bilbao (from Basque Country) and FCBarcelona (from Catalonia), both areas with a strong independence feeling, were fined over 50.000 dollars each when fans of both teams --not a few, but most of the 100.000 attendees!-- loudly booed the Spanish anthem and the Spanish king: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r36eHW03l1s
While all games are very civilized, passions might run high in certain ones and there have been scuffles now and then -not in the stadium but elsewhere. As I said earlier, nothing wrong with wearing RM colours but on game days just "know your surroundings", while FCB fans are very festive and welcoming to other fans, there might be an odd moron -no better word to describe it.
Enjoy!
For high profile Barcelona matches I have had good experiences with this firm:
http://www.simplybarcelonatickets.co.uk/
They are an official ticket agent of the team. You will be paying a markup (massive for this match), but they can get you tickets. You can purchase the tickets via their site and pick them up at a location in the city center a day before the match. Keep checking the site, as you get closer to match day more tickets may open up out of the VIP section.
It wouldn't be smart to wear Madrid apparel among Barcelona fans, and could get you ejected from the stadium.
