My husband, adult son (25) and I will be spending the holidays in Spain for 2015. Our daughter is working an internship in Bordeaux FR and will be joining us on our 3 week vacation in Spain. There is no direct flights from SFO to Barcelona so we are considering flying direct into Paris (meet my daughter there) renting a car and the four of us driving from Paris to Spain. Any feedback on a good itinerary, driving versus trains/cabs etc., and flying into Paris versus Barcelona? Oh and my husband wants to walk/visit Camino de Santiago but its winter so I am not sure if that is doable. Any feedback is appreciated.
Driving from Paris, to where in Spain, exactly? Just to Barcelona? If you want to go to Barcelona, fly to Barcelona from the States. If you want to go to Paris, fly to Paris from the States. I'm a little unclear about whether you want to spend your trip in Barcelona, or driving around Spain, or someplace else. If you would enjoy flying to Paris and renting a car and doing a driving trip with your family, that's one thing. But if you want to be in Barcelona, then fly there, not to Paris or some other place you don't want to be.
Is this planned for December?
The 3 weeks, is this all up, or just the planned time in Spain?
What are your plans for Spain so far?
Winter + weather + road conditions + drop off fees + short days of daylight +4 people + luggage = best use of time?
