eSim for Spain & Switzerland: both calls and data

eSims are rapidly evolving and the past topics info. is a bit dated now. I think occasionally we may need ability to make calls, not just text with a data-only plan eSim added to my Galaxy S22. Last week of the trip will be in Switzerland, so would want coverage there in addition to Spain.

Past posts seemed to recommend Orange if you want both calls and data, which gives you a France-based phone number. At Google Store, the Orange app, though shows LOTS of (maybe only?) 1 star reviews where the activation never did work but you were out the cash. Then there are lots of 5 star reviews that every single one is obviously spam saying things like "I am beautiful and well balanced" rather than any comment on the app. I would be a little more comfortable with something you can install in USA and know it should work/activate as soon as connecting to Spanish cell towers. Not having another errand when jetlagged on arrival is also a nudge to do this stateside.

Have others had tons of problems with Orange like the legit reviews suggest, and if so what alternative so you recommend if you want calls as a function?

Lastly any instructions on how to make sure my Tmobile Sim is turned off from trying to connect, getting roaming fees, etc. while using only the new eSim is appreciated-- I'll be brand new to this dual sim deal.

Check out this article discussing how to use a data-only SIM card to make phone calls. This approach may or may not work for you.

Your Galaxy S22 has a SIM manager built into its settings. Settings > Connections > SIM Manager. You will set your primary SIM as the European SIM, with T-Mobile as secondary. Turn roaming off on the T-Mobile SIM.

I've found it useful to place my phone on Do Not Disturb mode, with exceptions for the people I really need to hear from. Even with a European SIM as primary, I can still place calls using the US SIM if I absolutely have to, as the dialer app allows one to select the secondary SIM. Otherwise I use Google Voice to make calls with the data SIM using VOIP (voice over internet protocol).
