eSim Card from Orange

I'm leaving for Malaga Spain July 1, 2024, and was wondering....if I install my Orange eSim card 4 days before leaving. Will I still be able to use my iPhone?

Thank You
Frank

You should CAREFULLY read the directions that came with your eSIM. If your phone can accommodate a physical SIM and an eSIM or have a phone that can accommodate up to 2 eSIMS (no physical SIM) only one SIM can be active for each activity only. Not sure where you got your Orange eSIM--probably not from the vendor that I use--your vendor should provide you with instructions to install and turn on/off the eSIM and what the settings should be for your primary SIM/eSIM. Here are the instructions that AirAlo provides on their website. Your Orange eSIM can be similarly managed. Hope this helps.

To answer your question, you can install your eSIM at any time, you just need to change the setting on your phone when you want to have the eSIM do the data usage which is when you are leaving your country's airport before the flight attendants tell you to put the phone in airplane mode. Once you arrive in the EU/Spain (depending on the coverage of your Orange SIM), the eSIM should activate and you should be on the Orange network once the airplane mode is turned off.
