Am I reading the US Embassy in Spain web page correctly that starting Feb 1st 2022 ,Tourists no longer have a pretest requirement before entering Spain?
Thanks in Advance!
That change happened months ago—for vaccinated travelers, at least. I didn't have to test to enter in November or in January.
A pre-test hasn’t been needed for a while now. To answer your question directly from the website, “Is a negative COVID-19 test required for entry? No”
That part hasn’t changed as far as I know. The part that may have changed slightly is entry for non-essential travel. Vaccinated individuals have been able to travel to Spain for tourism for months now. If you’re thinking of going, go. Spain is fantastic. It’s total number of cases is on a downward trend. Just remember to fill out the Spanish Travel Health form.
wow- I have been trying to figure out when to get tested as I chose to fly the day after Easter.
Thanks!
Do you have a layover? I am traveling to Spain the end of March with a 3 hour layover in Frankfurt. The airline website says I need a test to layover in Frankfurt. Independent sites say I don't need one as long as I stay in the airport. You may want to research that if you have a layover.
Edited: I am not sure it has changed or if I read it wrong when I booked my ticket,, but it now says I just need one thing: either a vaccination document (have it), proof I have had it (never have) or a test (prefer to skip it)....so confusing. I am still researching. I do have my free tests from the government and will do my own testing before going and 5 days after returning home.
You just have fill out this form:
You can start it in advance and save your information and finish later or do the whole thing at the last minute. You get a code that has to be shown to somebody when you go through security or when you get your passport stamped, in Spain. The website only allows you to finish the form and get the code within 48 hours in advance.
If you have a layover in another country, you might have to check that country's requirements. For example, my layovers will only be in Miami, Florida, and then from there straight to Madrid. If I had flown on TAP Portugal, I would have had to get a COVID test in advance to meet Portugal's requirements, because I would have had to change planes in Lisbon.
Your card with the logo of the United States center for disease control that the pharmacist gave you and filled out, when you got your vaccine, is good enough. If you are one of the few people who didn't get a vaccine, it looks like Spain will let you in anyway, but requiring evidence of a negative pretest.
I think I read to get into Barcelona you also need to be boosted. We have been boosted but that portion of the card is hand written. I wondered how the SpTH app will read that portion. Will it be a problem? I'm just trying to prepare ahead of time. We also go Kansas City to CDG to Barcelona. If we stay in the CDG airport do we need a negative Covid test or not. Thoughts? Sandy
I edited my above observation: I had posted a link to something that is a scam, somebody who might fill the form out for you.
This is the link to the form Spain requires:
