Hi All.
I will arrive in Barcelona on July 31. My friend arrives August 1 at 7:05 PM (19:05). I will meet him at the airport and wonder if we should take the Aerobus to Plaça Catalunya at that time or take a taxi. My hotel is in walking distance from the plaza and having been there last year, I know how to navigate. Just wondering if waiting for the bus at that hour is more convenient than taking a taxi. Thanks!!
The Aerobus departs every 5 minutes. At €5-6 per person, it's also cheaper than a taxi, which Rick's book estimates at about €35.
You both arrive at possibly the worst two days in the year as per transit at the airport. Those that were on holiday in July are returning home and those that start them will be arriving. This airport is within the 10 busiest airports in Europe.
Saying so for two reasons: expect queues and... expect queues!
Then, although Aerobus might be convenient and noting there's one every 5 minutes, maybe (only maybe) you're better off taking the train this time. It departs from terminal 2 and will take you to Passeig de Gràcia station -in front of Casa Batlló- and you can walk from there to your hotel as the station is merely a few blocks from Plaça Catalunya.
Thanks All!!!
For reasons outlined by Enric, I am wondering if it may be better to wait for him to make his way in to the city. Unless of course, it's a very close attachment and it's been quite some time, or they will require luggage assistance.
We took the bus and it worked well. The problem we had is that the ticket machine would not accept our chip card even though it was supposed to be a real chip and pin. Also, the ATM at the airport had a long line and charged a high fee. If you won't land with Euros in hand you might want to buy your ticket online in advance.
