El Caminito del Rey?

Has anyone done the El Caminito del Rey hike out of Malaga recently? Some descriptions say it is less than 2 miles long, but an AI report says the total distance is closer to 4.8 miles. I am a senior in pretty good condition and would have no problem with 2+ miles, but I cannot do nearly 5 miles.

If you've done it recently, can you describe it please?

We, two seniors (mid 70s), walked El Caminito del Rey in September 2023. I am fit only in terms of daily activities and my husband much more so. I was worried that I might not be able to do the walk. But, mostly, it is flat and easy…and awesome!! It was a highlight of our trip to Andalucia. BUT, the end of the walk is a steep incline and therefore the hardest part. Yes, the walk is about 4.8 miles. Just take your time. Very much worth it…if you can get up the last uphill climb. Encourage you to go for it!

I agree it is more of a stroll than a hike (2021). Park at the bottom/end of hike, bus up to the top and start your walk. That way when your done and hot you can just get in your car put the ac on and leave. J

Yes, we did it in February. There is a walk to get to the start of the Caminito, that is probably why you are getting different distances. The whole thing is easy peasy. We did it in 2 1/2 hours. Very much worth it and a highlight of our trip. Check out my profile for links to my photobook.
