Eight days between Seville and Malaga. How to spend time?

My husband and I are flying into Malaga in November and want to divide our time between Seville and Malaga (with a stop in Arcos de la Frontera). Any ideas on how much time we should spend in each place or what is best to do/see during mid-November?

Not clear where your intended departure is from, but with 8 nights between Malaga and Seville.
1. Arrive Malaga (1N)
2. Pick up car & drive to Granada (2N)
3. Visit Alhambra
4. Drive to Ronda (2N)
5. Day to pueblos blancos
6. Drive via Arcos to Seville (3N) & return car
7. Seville
8. Day to Cordoba & Mezquita
9. Depart Seville

If you haven't already been to Cordoba, I highly recommend that you allow at least a day during your Seville stay for a trip to that city.

Ronda is picturesquely situated on a gorge. It's closer to Malaga than to Seville but is even closer to Arcos de la Frontera, and ViaMichelin.com indicates that the road through El Bosque and Grazalema is particularly scenic. However, I'm not sure it would be practical to stop in both Arcos and Ronda during your drive from Malaga to Seville.

It's a bit unusual to choose Malaga over Granada, unless you've already seen the Alhambra.

Hi there-we are planning a similar trip and you mentioned pueblos blancos. Is there a specific one to look for as when I google it there are over 10 of them. Thanks so much-Ginny

I spent 3 nights in Ronda, used the first day to see some of the pueblos blancos on the way from Jerez, then one day to explore Ronda, and one day to tootle around seeing other of the pueblos blancos. Then I spent a day driving from Ronda to Granada, stopping for hiking in El Torcal and seeing a bit of Antequera.

I enjoyed seeing Malaga, but I'd put it toward the low end of a list headed by Granada (the Alhambra!!) and Cordoba (my favorite Spanish city), with Sevilla close on and then Ronda. Instead of renting a car in Malaga, you could take the bus to Granada (a car is next to useless there) and pick it up when you leave. If you don't go to Granada, then take the car from Malaga, through the hills and drop it in either Sevilla or Cordoba.

Thanks! These are all great. We are flying round trip in and out of Malaga, so we will try to adjust accordingly. Wondering how this sounds (is it crazy?):
Fly into Malaga, get car and drive to Ronda (stay overnight).
Drive to Seville (3 nights)
Drive back to Malaga (stay overnight).
Do day trip to Granada/Alhambra, back to Malaga (overnight).
Explore Malaga (go to Nerja, etc.) (overnight).
Fly out of Malaga.
I'm trying to limit the number of places we stay to three. Thinking if we fly in around noon to Malaga, then spending one night in Ronda will be relaxing rather than trying to get in the car and drive all the way to Seville after a long flight.

Thoughts? I know the trip to Malaga from Seville is about 6 hours. Are there particularly nice routes if we are going to spend the day driving anyway?

Thank you!

I typically don't sleep at all on overnight flights and would not be a safe driver on arrival day. I guess that's an individual thing, but I believe the road to Ronda is a bit challenging.

I would not drive from Seville to Malaga (at least 2 hours) only to turn around the next day and make a 4-hour (at least) round-trip to Granada. I'd drive from Seville to Granada directly and spend at least two nights there.

Okay, thinking:
2 nights in Ronda
2 nights Seville
2 nights Granada
1 night Malaga

So excited!
