EES at Madrid

We arrived at 2:10P.M. Terminal 4 was pretty busy. Long walk to get to passport control. There were lots of EES terminals available. I had 2 people ahead of me and waited about 5 minutes. The fingerprint/photo was simple then a couple of yes/no questions and the light flashed green and the gate opened, 2 minutes max. Then walk on through. There were monitors there for those needed help. 40 minutes from walking off the plane to the street.

We just had a quick experience too. My fingerprints had an issue and I was instructed to see an agent but it was quick. My wife had no issues but she went through the same line as me.

At Madrid, last week,My flight arrived a little after 7 am. After my scanned passport was accepted at the EES terminal, it directed me to an E-gate where a photo was taken and then I was done and directed out No fingerprints, no questions. It took less than 5 minutes but it sounds like I didn’t actually go through EES?
