Economical Lugo Spain trains, UK, Ireland

In June, we need to be in Lugo Spain for a few dates and May possibly have 7 and 9 days in between as Free Travel Time in between the Lugo appointments but the the Free Travel Time schedule may not be known with much notice...

How is it possible to leave Lugo during the 7 and 9 days and fly to London and Ireland and be back Economically if the plans are made or changeable "last minute" or is it best to just wait and leave Spain totally and go to London without any limit of days?

How to make London area economic & fast from Spain?

Are there Economic upscale Touring Trains that leave from Lugo or where is the closest nearby to see Amazing Sites during those 7 and 9 days of Free Travel Time or are all the upscale trains super-expensive? (We do not want to drive or hike.)

Thank you.

For economical flights, look at budget airlines Ryanair, EasyJet, or Vueling. If you have a lot of luggage, though, their baggage fees could eat into the savings.

There are few trains at Lugo, only one seems suitable to go into A Coruña - but the city is beyond the airport so that would be a waste of time. The train also stops at El Burgo which is just off the end of the runway, so get a taxi from there. But this really isn't practical - and not at all what you asked about in Februaru.

The only upscale touring train I am aware of in that area (not at Lugo) is the Transcantabrico train- on the north of Spain narrow gauge network. However that is not remotely an economical way to travel, being very expensive- I know from reviews it is supposed to be a wonderful experience, but doubt it is what you were looking for- https://eltrentranscantabrico.com/en/

(If I ever win big on the Premium Bonds it is on a vague wish list!!)

Lugo is on the train line from Madrid to A Coruña. In addition to it, check for flights from somewhat nearby places like Santiago de Compostela, Ourense, León, etc., if there are any. There may be some, but you’d need to take a bus to get to wherever the flight departs from.

If you’re really set on the UK, you could take the long bus ride to Porto and fly from there.
With as many places as there are to see in Spain, consider staying in country and travel around Galicia, Asturias, and Cantabria.
