eating in Pamplona during San Fermin

hello, I will be in Pamplona next week towards the end of the festival. should I just expect mass mayhem? I will be solo, so thinking tapas bars in lieu of sitting at a restaurant may be the better option. thanks for the 411!

For Thursday or Friday you should be okay. The old town will be busy everyday but if you go to San Juan, San Jorge or the Rocha (about a 10 minute walk) you should have no problems.

Friday night will probably be bad as it is the last night and many people dont have to work on Sat.

BTW where did you find a place to stay?

thanks so much for the info! i found a student dorm to stay in with a private bath that is a bit of a walk from the center (2 km), but for a decent price, and with breakfast. i was contemplating an airbnb in someone’s home, but didn’t want to spend that much. i’m sure i’ll make up for it with ubers lol

Well, I ended up at yet another pintxo bar for I guess what you would call dinner (Restaurant Baserriberri), and my 2 dishes were amazing. I had a Mexican ceviche with salmon, that was just delectable, and was a nice change from all the heavier Spanish foods. I also got this weird oxtail sandwich that the guy used a mini blow torch on a la crème brûlée, and that was good as well. The bartender laughed when I asked for what sounded more like chocolate instead of txakoli, but I eventually got my wine lol. It has been fun eating here in Spain, but I miss healthier food, and tonight actually had a burger and a salad. It hit the spot!
