Easter Sunday in Ronda - Restaurant Recs?

We're on the Spain in 14 Days Tour that spans Easter Week. We'll be visiting Ronda on Easter Sunday and eating dinner on our own that day. The itinerary says we'll "sleep near Ronda."

Looking for restaurant recommendations if you have any? Thank you.

This could be a challenge. I have no recommendation for a restaurant, but, if Spain is like Italy, you may find it challenging to find a place. When we were in Italy, it was virtually impossible to find a restaurant. We did and it was nice, but not easy as it seemed every family was out for lunch and dinner.

Have fun. You will get a good meal at anyplace that you choose. Avoid tourist areas for restaurants as the food will be better.

The Parador has a stunning restaurant terrace overlooking the gorge, And opposite is the Don Miguel.
There are quite a few touristy restaurants near the bullring.

Many restaurants in Spain are closed on Sunday nights (and Mondays) so I would plan on having lunch (comida) rather than dinner if you have particular places in mind. A bigger problem will be where to eat on the following day, Monday.

One of the best restaurants in Ronda is Bardal; they are now taking reservations for Easter lunch but it is a tasting menu. I imagine you might run into the situation in many places--open for Easter Sunday lunch but with a special holiday menu. (Bardal always offers a a choice of two tasting menus)

The same chef haas a less expensive restaurant, Tragata, that is also open for Easter lunch; here is the menu; prices are reasonable and they offer a range of steaks which are probably very good. If I were in your place, I'd probably go there and be sure to book well inn advance of arriving in Spain. They are taking bookings now.

But where are you sleeping? Are you on a tour that does not allow a long Sunday lunch? if so, the issue will be more difficult. Does your tour itinerary not tell you the hotel and town where you will spend Sunday night?

It's easy enough to check others.....just gather a list of restaurants that interest you and check their websites to see if you can book on April 20 for dinner. Difficult, I think, not only cause it is a Sunday but it's the holiday Sunday.

As already mentioned, check out the restaurants at the Parador. The Parador is right at the new bridge with a great view of the gorge. That Parador has two restaurants. For that day especially, a reservation is a must. Even when staying at Paradors on regular days a reservation is frequently needed. Parador restaurants tend to be upscale from others in town and are pricier. They tend to offer regional cuisine.

But we don't know if she needs a restaurant in Ronda or elsewhere!

I agree that Parador meals are generally good, but I usually prefer to dine in restaurants away from the hotel.
I think often their breakfasts are better than their dinners, but I've not stayed at the one in Ronda. (Although we did have a very nice dinner t the parador in Cuenca two months ago) It's a great idea to keep in mind, especially if you have to go for Sunday dinner when you might be hard pressed to find an open restaurant.... A good idea, really, for any Sunday night in any town or city with a parador!!

I think my stay in Santiago might be over a Sunday this spring, so I just might try the parador restaurant myself since I'll be staying there!!

I'd love to know where the RS tour stays near Ronda..

@ekscrunchy - you are correct that we have no idea where the OP will actually be lodged, but recommendations were solicited and Ronda was the only town mentioned. All one can do is guess. I mentioned the Parador because it is guaranteed to be open on Easter Sunday.

We’ve stayed at 35 Paradors, but don’t always eat at them. We prefer to eat in town, but some Paradors (Alarcón, Gredos, Puebla de Sanabria, as examples) are in locations where there are few or no other restaurants nearby. In other locations like La Granja, the local restaurants closed after Sunday lunch, so the Parador was the only nearby restaurant that was open.

The Parador in Santiago is nice, but pricey most of the year. We spent a couple night at it in 2017, but didn’t eat at its restaurant.

This may be a situation that calling the RS tour office will provide you better information. It is possible that due to the holiday they may divert from the printed itinerary so that you're not needing to find a restaurant on a holiday. It is not going to be the first time this has happened to one of their tour groups. When you call, you might also be able to find out specifically where your tour is going to stay (but you might not, as I know they sometimes don't completely finalize locations until they send out tour packets).
