We are a large family (13) with 5 children (8-13) and arrive in Seville April 18 2025. We are staying a little outside the Santa Cruz area in a house. We are wondering what happens on Easter. Will we be able to see or participate in anything on Easter? I'm hopping we can catch a few glimpses of the floats but are wondering if we should even try. Will everything be closed down on Monday. We've talked about a day trip by train to Cordoba or instead staying there Monday and Tuesday. Right now we are booked in Seville in a quiet area for 5 nites in a house. We are heading to Ronda from there for a nite and then Cadiz for 3 more nights with day trips. Thoughts.
Opening hours for sights in Seville are often adjusted during Holy Week. You should be able to get a handout from the tourist office if you can't find the info online before you leave home. (With a good bit of keyboard pounding, I found the Holy Week schedule for one or two cities in Andalucia before my arrival in April 2019, but not one for Seville.)
You can definitely go and see the Cathedral. It's been a few years but I was in Seville during Palm Sundays and we were allowed to go into the church by a side door as long as we didn't disturb the church service. Very cool to see Palm Sunday as an American. Also they were giving out palms that were olive branches and we got to see other church celebrations with the congregations marching around the buildings with their palms.
I know the day before Palm Sunday we were able to stand in line and see the icons in the different churches. I'm not sure if they do that Easter Monday. I loved Holy Week in Seville-it was crowded but mostly with other Spaniards.
