On our second trip to Barcelona we want to take an overnight trip to Palma Mallorca. Any suggestions as to the best way to get there from our hotel on the Ramblas and how to navigate the transfers involved?
Have been to Mallorca, not from Barcelona, but given your restricted time, flying is the only option...I would seriously consider at least two nights, one night would be pointless with just the time to get there and back.
Search for budget flights well ahead of time, take the train to the airport, in Mallorca, bus is about the best means.
@Paul, thanks for your input. we are trying to decide if we have enough time to make the trip worthwhile but it sounds like two days is needed. Any other suggestions for day trip outside of Barcelona that are off the beaten track? We have been to Montserrat and drove through Figueres on our last trip.
Giirona would be an option but it is not off the track for sure.
Check out Cap Roig, fabulous estate on the sea coast....gardens are outstanding. Day trip.
@Amy, some interesting ideas: Besalú, Girona, Tarragona, Sitges, Vic, Montserrat... for all these you don't need a car, you can have a day escapade either by bus or train. Check www.catalunya.com and www.infocatalonia.eu for further ideas.
