Playing around with flights and two options are early morning departures from either Barcelona or Madrid back to the US. If overnighting in either of those cities, which is easiest to get to the airport in the morning? Thanks in advance.
We have done both, and I found Barcelona to be marginally easier. (I just prefer mid size cities and airports to large ones.) If you are considering public transportation, be sure and look when the metro opens. AI says Madrid is 6:00 AM and Barcelona 5:00 AM). We had no problem with either one. Just be sure you book something close to the line you need if you are using the Metro. I put it in Rome 2 Rio, and there didn't seem to be a huge price difference for taxis if that is what you are planning on doing. (full disclosure, we chose to stay at a hotel close to the airport in Madrid and then took the metro into the city. We only had one full day, so that made sense.
Agree -- about the same. Both airports are close to the city. Pick the one that best fits your schedule.
A coin flip for me...
