Early Morning Flight from Bilbao

We fly out of Bilbao at 6:45 AM on October 22 this year after our stay in Basque Country. I am wondering if others have any recommendations about where to stay the night before for easy access to the airport. We will be arriving in Bilbao from Laguardia on Oct 21 by public transportation. Many of the suggestions that I have seen online appear to be places that would be not easily accessed by public transportation for our arrival (or would not be close to restaurant options that would allow us to eat early to have any early night). Any recommendations/suggestions much appreciated!

From Bilbao city center (it´s a very compact and small city) to the airport, it´ll take you 15-20min to get to the airport at 0500am, on empty roads. Stay in the city, it makes lots of logic. Just one small terminal, supereasy airport to handle. If you do not want to take a taxi, the first aiport bus leaves at 5am from Plaza Moyua stop, 5min later at Alameda de Recalde stop, arriving at the airport at 0525. Any hotel in that vicinity is a good option.

Hi Dorothy,

of course I cede to Mikel in all things Bilbao, you can´t go wrong listening to him. But I will mention my experience with the early morning flights, or actually my mother´s expericence. She likes to stay at the Holiday Inn Express next to the airport. She was there at Christmas and they have done some remodeling, and it makes for a good night´s stay focused on getting to the airport early the next morning.

Of course, thanks dlindstrom, HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS is the closest hotel to the airport, but surrounded by nothing, so dinner would have to be there (not sure if they offer meals, to be honest). Also Seminario, The Park and New Bilbao, with standard comfort and not much around them. Public transportation to these may not be that easy, the OP may want to check these places too.

Before the Holiday in my mother used to stay at the Seminario.

In the same parking lot as the HI is another hotel, Hotel New Bilbao, but I don't know anything about.

Both of the hotels have restaurants, and the HI has breakfast. You are right though, if someone wants to spend the last night visiting the city, may not be the best place to stay. In our case, we usually got there in the evening, and it was early bed time for an early flight.
