Early dinner in Madrid near Plaza Mayor

It's our last night in Spain and we want to have an early dinner (around 8pm). We are staying between Sol and Plaza Mayor. We just want a basic meal and nothing too expensive.

Any suggestions?

Head up to the top/ninth floor of the El Corte Inglés Callao, and enjoy the amazing views. Called the Gourmet Experience Gran Vía, it has lots of stands and kiosks to assemble a full meal without breaking the bank. I assume they are open on Easter Sunday but you might want to verify if you can...

Botín’s is famous but is not inexpensive.

Our last two times in Madrid we’ve eaten at Los 4 Robles, 3º, Pl. de Celenque, 1. The first time we ate upstairs in the dining room while we ate downstairs in the bar area. From Petit Palace Posada del Peine (believe you’re staying there), it’s about a 3 minutes walk. It is closed Easter Sunday.

@HistoryTraveler - What a great idea! I have just checked and it's open until 9pm. During our 60 days in Spain we have eaten at multiple El Corte Inglés' but not this one. Some paella and a glass of wine will make an ideal last meal.
