We are flying into BCN airport and then planning on driving to Montserrat and staying overnight in one of the hotels. I'm confused as to where to park and how to get to the hotel. Any ideas for me?
Julie - I think taking public transportation is a better option then driving to Montserrat.
From BCN, you will need to take the Aerobus to the Plaça Espanya bus stop, then take the R5 railway line straight to Montserrat.

"I'm confused as to where to park and how to get to the hotel. Any ideas for me?"
Yes, three:
1) Contact the hotel by e-mail and ask them.
2) Tell us the exact hotel - otherwise, even people who know Barcelona and Montserrat are just guessing.
3) Follow RJean's idea and don't rent the car until after Montserrat. I realize this may not work with the rest of your plans, but it does simplify things.
- Avoid driving to Montserrat. Period.
- Montserrat is both the name of a mountain ridge, which harbours the Natural Park of the Mountain of Montserrat, as well as the name of the abbey, in honour to Nostra Senyora de Montserrat, the Black Madonna. When talking to locals, Montserrat refers to the area around the abbey. Saying so because, albeit neighbouring towns (ie Collbató) are within the mountain area, one wouldn't refer to it as "Montserrat" but as "Collbató", but some tourist sites (hotels, travel agencies...) might say "they're in Montserrat", which technically they are, albeit they're in a town miles from the abbey. Trying to avoid misunderstandings here :)
- There's only one hotel in Montserrat, Hotel Abad Cisneros, so not much to choose from. Nearby, in neighbouring towns, there are a few more though.
- Equally, in Montserrat, by the abbey that is, there's only one parking lot, to the left of this map: http://bit.ly/2J8zQHP These are the prices: http://sac.gencat.cat/sacgencat/AppJava/servei_fitxa.jsp?codi=1266
One reason to stay near Montserrat is a full day of hiking. My plan was to stop for a view and hike. Due to rain like "cats and dogs" had to drive by. Parking available at Monistrol-Vits, Monistrol de Montserrat (rack rail), and Montserrat-Aeri (cable car). All parking lots are pay and have a route to Montserrat and Sant Joan funicular. I believe all parking is off C-55. C-55 was a busy two lane road with large trucks. The mountain range is an archeological site, on a clear day, as you come into Barcelona by air, this range can be seen.
From the road the view is similar to hiking Fisher Towers in Moab.
Thank you for your help! I think we will not rent a car. We are staying at the Abat Cisneros Hotel. I'm glad to know it is in the right location for what we are planning.
