My girlfriend and I are driving from San Sebastian to Barcelona on May 27-28. We plan on stopping and staying the night somewhere between the two cities. Does anyone know of nice places to stay? I was thinking somewhere off the beaten track and small. I also considered Pamplona; even though it would make for a long drive on day 2. Thoughts?
Sos del Rey Catolico might work, it fits your two criteria, although it is only about an hour past Pamplona, so it won't shorten you day 2 by much.
It is easily driven in a day, but 2 is best, allowing for sightseeing stops. The Parador at Olite is a wonderful experience.
Pamplona and Zaragoza are perfect if it's a journey over 3 days. The auto pista from Zaragoza onwards is very fast.
