Driving into Barcelona for day trip - best parking?

We will have a car for our summer roadtrip and will be spending a week on the Costa Brava. We would like to get into Barcelona for a day.

Looking at public transit from Calella de Palaflugell, looks like I'd need to bus to Girona for an hour and then 45m by fast train, or I could simply drive the 1h45 into Barcelona and not pay for the train tickets. I've driven in major cities all over the world, Paris, NYC, etc so I'm not concerned with the driving aspect, just wondering if anybody might have a recommendation for a good place to park for the day? Even something suburban where we could take a more regular commuter train in?

Thanks for any suggestions y'all might have!

There are many car parks, both privately and publicly run, the closer to the busiest spots in the city, the more chances you'll find them full -and also they're likely to be the more expensive.

For someone coming for a day, during summer, I always recommend checking the network of BSM, which is a public company related to the City Hall Government: https://aparcamentsbsm.cat/en/car-parks/list/

Still, going to Girona and taking the high-speed train is not a bad idea at all, if anything, less hectic.
