Driving in Andalucia - best place to pick up and drop off car?

I am working on our itinerary and want to drive from Arcos to Ronda and possibly Nerja. I have read that some of the towns are hard to drive around in. I was looking at picking up the car in Seville and dropping it off in either Malaga or Ronda. Is this a good idea or is there a better city to pick up and drop off a car?

Also, how far of a drive is it to Nerja from Ronda? Wondering if I am trying to cover too much territory.

Thank you!

Nerja to Ronda is listed at about 2 hours. I did it once, it took about 3 - there was some traffic in Malaga. How long are you renting the car for?

Seville and Malaga will have the most car rental options. Renting in one and returning in another town can be tricky - is the same company in both towns? Somewhere like Ronda will have some car rental agencies, but not as many, so your options will be limited. So getting it in Seville, doing your drive, and dropping it in Malaga makes the most sense.

First, if you choose to rent a car be sure and obtain your idp via AAA.
Second, are you simply trying to get from point to point or have other motives for desiring to rent a car?
Third, we base out of malaga and rent cars when we desire to "wander", but for point to point we take public transport.
Fourth, over how many days are you seeking to rent a car?

Thank you for your responses thus far. To answer your question, I am thinking of renting a car for 3 - 4 days. Driving from Sevilla to Arcos to Zahara to Grazalema to Ronda and returning the car in Malaga. May visit the coast between Ronda and Malaga. Looking for the best beach town for our itinerary. Our itinerary is definitely a work in progress. Too much to see!

Thanks,
Lori

Your plan is very sound (and very enticing). If you are continuing on to Granada I would keep it til then, including a visit to the Alpujarras.

Yes we are traveling to Granada. I think I am going to take your advice. It cuts down on travel time. Thank you!
