Driving Granada to Seville

We pick up a rental at the train station in Granada early and have the day to get to Seville. What’s a good place on the way to stop for a few hours to walk around and have lunch? Someplace easy to park would be a plus. We will also have luggage in the car (trunk) is it safe to leave? Thanks!

Ronda was on our list if we can do it! I wonder if parking is easy? Any recommendations on where to stop for lunch and walk around for an hour or 2? Thx

The most direct route takes you near Antequera and takes a little less than 2.5 hours. Prior to it is Castillo fortaleza de Archidona where you could make a short stop. If you wanted to visit Ronda, it’s about 2 hours from Granada. From it, Sevilla is just under a 2 hours drive. On that drive you could stop at Setenil de las Bodegas or Olvera. It comes down to how much time you want to spend driving. Once turning off the A92 heading towards Antequera and Ronda, the road becomes more rural and is 2 lanes. It is in good repair.

If just walking around Ronda and not going down into the gorge, you can see Ronda in a couple hours. It only has one main street running through it. Setenil de las Bodegas is worth about an hour. How long you visit any one place will depend on your interests. You can look up parking lots in whichever town on Google maps. Bookmarking them can reduce time looking for them when you arrive it town. Most towns have free lots, but they are generally not right in the historic center. Ronda’s are a mile from the New Bridge. The closer lots will be pay lots.

As long as you don’t open the trunk/hatchback after parking, or leave anything in sight, you should be fine. Put things away prior to parking. If possible when parking, back into the spot and as close to a wall as possible so nobody could get behind the vehicle to open the trunk. Don’t park in remote locations. I’ve never had a rental broken into in any country.

Depending on time of year, Ronda can be overwhelmed with tourists.
