I heard that this drive is beautiful. We want to stop by Nerja Caves which is cool. But I'm not a great driver and really worried about that road. So scared of cliffs, sharp turns, etc. Advice, tips, please?
I haven't been to those caves, but recently heard they are very nice. The roads from Granada to Malaga are interstates. Take the A44 to the A7. The caves seem to be right off the A7 so you shouldn't have any problem.
I did this drive a few years ago, and it was beautiful but not scary. The scary drive was from Ronda to Nerja, with all of the switchbacks right along the edge of the mountains. I would preview the route on Google Maps first.
We took the bus from Granada to Malaga. I was amazed how similar the drive was to I-70 through the mountains west of Denver. It was all divided, four-lane, interstate like road way. The drive would be very easy.
The drive is highway and freeway. The traffic does get busy near Malaga. I would suggest gps and google map prep to get to your stay. Drop in on the Picasso's for me!
