We are driving by car from Granada to Barcelona, Spain. Our plans are to have a 1 night stop en route. Is this realistic drive time? Where is a good city in between to make the stopover?
I've never driven in Europe, much less in Spain, but ViaMichelin gives a time estimate of about 10 hours without any stops, so 2 days sounds good to me.
Valencia looks like the obvious stopping point if you're willing to deal with a large city. It's at about the 6-hour point (again, not allowing for stops). I'm sorry I can't offer a suggestion for a smaller city around the mid-point of your route in case that's what you would prefer.
Edited to add: In case you don't absolutely have to drive: You can make that trip by train in about 7-1/2 hours with a change in Antequera, departing Granada at 12:45 PM.
Why in the world would you make this drive and dedicate so much time in a car?
BTW: what month are you traveling (re: high heat = discomfort + potential of melting cosmetics in luggage)
Notchili,
If it were me, I'd change my itinerary to avoid this long trek.
I've visited Barcelona & Granada, but not on the same trip.
What is your itinerary for this trip?
When are you planning to take your trip?
Just a thought-we are flying from Barcelona to Granada. 1 1/2 hour flight, and costs anywhere from $60-79, veuling airlines.
if you don't have to have a car, you may want to consider this.
