Drinks/tapas near San Nicolas mirador with Alhambra views?

Rick mentioned about a bar/restaurant where one can order some drinks (maybe at one of the carmens), and enjoy Alhambra view without paying restaurant fare. Any ideas where are these places?

We will be spending some time at the mirador before going to the restaurant/bar. Our visit would be in Mid November to view the sunset, and sunset would be at 18:05. Thanks!

This is the place you’re looking for: El Huerto de Juan Ranas, located right across from the Mirador de San Nicolás.

The bar terrace has open seating and it gets very busy before sunset, so make sure you get there early, grab a table, enjoy some delicious food, drinks, and dessert as you marvel at the beautiful Alhambra across the valley.

Make sure you go to the Terrace Bar (outdoor seating with umbrellas), and not to the restaurant by the same name just down the street.
However, if you’d rather sit indoors in their restaurant, you may need to make advance reservations.

My mom and I enjoyed the outdoor terrace bar area and shared some great food, and a creamy cheesecake topped with raspberry sauce for desert!
We took amazing photos of the Alhambra at sunset.

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks Priscilla!

Coming early, would you say half an hour before sunset is early enough?

I don’t remember what time we got there but I do recall that we got the last table on the terrace. I’d say be there at least 45 minutes before sunset.

Keep in mind that once you’re there, you can linger as long as you wish.

We actually had not planned to eat at this place. We’d taken the minibus to the Mirador and arrived probably an hour or so before sunset. The Mirador was already very crowded (people sitting on the wall) so we followed Rick Steves’ advise and went to the Mosque (next to the Mirador) where we took some nice photos.

While admiring the Alhambra,
I noticed some people going into a small gate across the street, and I became intrigued so we followed them, and it was then that we decided to stay.
This turned out to be one of our favorite experiences in Granada, besides visiting the Alhambra, of course!

Do explore the Albacín if you have time.

On a separate day we went up to the Mirador de San Nicolás (during the day) and to our delight we found a small street market where merchants were selling their art and crafts, unique jewelry and such. We then walked to Plaza Larga and got some delicious pastries at ‘Casa Pasteles’.

If you have a sweet tooth, make sure you go to ‘Los Italianos’ for some delicious ice cream. This shop is located across from the cathedral on Calle Gran Vía de Colón, 4.

Have a wonderful trip!
