The more authentic Catalan cuisine I've had was outside of Barcelona, in the smaller cities, like Girona, Vic, and Tarragona. In Barcelona you can try Barceloneta (https://restaurantbarceloneta.com/ca/el-restaurant/), I think they do good Catalan style seafood and rice dishes in addition to other regional favorites from across Spain, though it's been a few years since I was last there.
Just FYI the most authentic thing is to eat your main meal at lunch time around 2:00pm, rather than dinners. In Spain the dinners are usually light affairs eaten at home. Only foreigners eat Paella for dinner :-)
Carlos,
Thank you for your reply. Can you recommend a lunch destination in the Parc Guell or Sagrada Familia area that will be more authentic quality food than tourist trap?
Ok, I'll give you a local's tip, if you want an authentic local's place near there you'll have to do some walking. I actually used to live nearby that area and when I'm back in town I try to stop by Restaurant A'cañota, which is probably my favorite seafood restaurant in Barcelona. It's definitely no frills and you'll find only locals eating there. Be prepared that they won't have menus in English nor the waiters will speak English. If it's within your price range I'd suggest to order the Mariscada.
One of us has Spanish as a first language. We will take the walk! Thank you!
Great you'll fit right in fine then! Buen provecho 😊
