Dining/ Touring in Madrid

Hello everyone,
My friend and I are taking a riverboat cruise in April, and we have a couple of days in Madrid at the beginning. We are staying at NH COLLECTION MADRID COLÓN.

Does anyone with knowledge of the area have recommendations for dining, museums, attractions etc close to our hotel? We won't have a vehicle, so we would like to do some things within walking distance.

Thank you!

It looks like you’ll nbe near the Prado and Thyssen museums.
And Retiro Park. It looks like the hotel is in the Salamanca neighborhood, is that correct? If so, lots of good, walkable dining locations.

Hermosilla and Ayala streets are full of dining possibilities, too many!
Mantequerias Bravo if you want to buy wine
Jurucha: Excellent tapas bar.
Ten con Ten: The bar of the rich and beautiful.
Just to mention a few.

The hotel is about a mile from the Prado, Alcalá gate, and Retiro park, and 2.4 miles from the Reina Sofía. Near the hotel is the Mercado de la Paz. It has some quick dining possibilities, but is a nice market if you just wanted to walk through it. If you like Botero sculptures, then very near the hotel is his work “Lady With Mirror.” Another of his works is out at the airport. At the same intersection is the quirky “Lucky Fog (Rana de Fortuna)” statue. En route to the Prado along Paseo de Recoletos that turns into Paseo Del Prado is the Plaza de Cibeles and Fuente de Neptuno. If you don’t mind walking, the Plaza Mayor is about a 30 minutes walk; the Gran Vía closer. There is a nearby metro stop if you didn’t want to walk.
