Digital EU Covid Certificate

I've searched the forum, but can not seem to find an answer to this question.
I have read that US citizens in certain countries (France/Germany) for varying prices (40 Euro/free) can have their CDC cards converted to an EU Digital Covid Certificate. We are traveling to quite a few countries, and if this is true, it would help as I would not have to test before entry into some countries. Does anyone know if this is true in Spain? Could I go into a pharmacy and have them create an EU Digital Covid Certificate by presenting my passport and proof of vaccination in the US? Currently the US does not participate in the EU Digital System.

For entry to nearly every EU country, the CDC card is accepted, basically as proof of vaccination. That will be checked by your airline here in the States.

Countries do differ how they handle proof of vaccination for daily life (any restrictions for restaurant dining, entry to museums, some transport, etc.). That is mostly what residents use their Digital Covid Certificate for. I believe Spain accepts the CDC card for this purpose as well, things are changing fast, and I admit I have not kept up since I delayed my trip to September.

There is not a mechanism in Spain for getting a digital certificate based on your CDC vax card. There may be a way to get the certificate by testing negative, but I never really looked into that.

That said, only a handful of Spain's Autonomous Communities have/had any kind of requirement for vaccine passports.

I spent the month of January in the Canary Islands, where venues were obligated to check vaccine passes. All the Spanish waiters and doormen/bouncers were totally cool with the picture of my CDC card on my phone—we even laughed together about how silly our slips of paper are. Only ex-pat German workers there gave me any hassle about not having a QR code they could scan.

Oh, and the QR code you get to enter the country does not work as a scannable vax passport code. Totally different systems.

Thanks so much for the information. I just got back, and not having the EU Digital card was not a problem anywhere. Thanks again!
