December in Southern Spain

We have 3 weeks of our time in Southern Spain in December. We are 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Granada, Seville, the white towns around Arcos and Ronda are all easy choices for places to spend time. However, we would also like base ourselves in a town in the Costa de Sol use this as a place to explore the area for a week. An apartment would suit us and we will have a car. Nerja and Malaga look promising. However, I am worried that as our time spans Christmas and is out of the main tourist season, many places could be closed. We want to experience a traditional Spain, rather than a sea-side resort beach holiday. Any comments?

Seville (4) - Arcos (2) - Ronda (2) - Malaga (2 or 3) - Nerja (3 or 4) - Granada (4) - Cordoba (3)
You may have a more limited choice of restaurants in Nerja in December but I don't think it closes down completely. Others may shed further light.

' we would also like base ourselves in a town in the Costa de Sol use this as a place to explore the area for a week.' - Malaga city.
'I am worried that as our time spans Christmas and is out of the main tourist season, many places could be closed.' - Quite probably elsewhere on the costa but certainly not in a normal working city with a population greater than 500,000 like Malaga.
'We want to experience a traditional Spain, rather than a sea-side resort beach holiday.' - Then it's Malaga.

We base out of malaga and believe the location will be a great choice offering minimum impact from Christmas holidays. You can easilly daytrip to a number of your listed locations, however we do advise taking the train to seville and stay at least one night.
The following web sites should add value to your trip:
