I am currently researching the possibility of a do it yourself day trip to Sierra Nevada from Granada around the first week of January 2019. Any thoughts recommendations on how to accomplish this? Thanks

My son and friends went skiing up there one day in March using public transportation.

I was going to ask - car or no car? Are you going to be relying on public transport?
And what are you interested in doing? Weather may be a factor.
