Day trip to Sevilla

We’ll be in Madrid for 6 days and plan on taking a few day trips. We’re considering going to Seville. Any recommendations for restaurants or must-see sights? I did see RS write up on Sevilla, but looking for other travelers experience.

Thank you for any feedback!

Seville is almost 3 hours by train from Madrid- way too far for a day trip
Seville needs several nights as well

Ditto, there are many possible day trips from Madrid (Toledo, Segovia) but I would not consider Sevilla within day trip distance. You could save it or split your time in half, depending on what your list for Madrid entails.

Thank you guys! The high speed train 2:20 hrs, still looking at 5 hours round trip.

You could easily head there on arrival, but that would be a short trip in two cities. Not ideal but plenty do it. I just know I would definitely not spend multiple hours on a train for a day trip.

You have too many days in Madrid if you are thinking of going to Seville on a day trip.

5 hours round trup plus time it takes ti get to/from stations

Either drop some Madrid nights and spend at least 2 in Seville ( still not enough!) or choose a different day trip that us less time and travel

3 nights in Madrid was enough us
4 nights in Seville was not enough

However you end up getting to Seville, some must-sees are: Real Alcazar de Sevilla, Giralda Tower &
Catedral de Sevilla and Plaza de España Square. I'd also get tickets for a flamenco show although they sometimes perform for free in the square (that would be a bonus and well worth a tip). Seville is a part of the Spanish community of Andalusia. It is the area that many believe "feels like Spain" for its architecture, beautiful tiles and history. You will need advance tickets for all that I suggested.

I have never done a day trip there from Madrid but stayed two nights the first time and four, the next. The first time we flew in from Newark to Madrid then took the train to Seville for a two-night stay. The second time, we had arrived by bus from Granada where we had stayed three nights.

Cordoba is a great day trip from Seville. Toledo is a great day trip from Madrid. I hope you enjoy Seville. (Lindy from Hopewell Township)

For flamenco, check out a few videos to ensure you want to go to an hour + performance. To me, five minutes of flamenco is four too many. If there happen be be some Roma performing in the Plaza de España when you’re there, consider it a bonus.

Hello all, thank you for all the feedback.

I’ve booked a few day trips to Segovia, Toledo, Ávila, and Alcalá de Henares. We’ll actually start our trip in Paris for a few days, then head to Lourdes for a week of service. After that, we’ll visit Barcelona and Madrid. Maybe on our next trip, we’ll include Seville.

You should have a good trip and you selected good day trips from Madrid. I thoroughly enjoyed the religious area of Lourdes the few times I’ve visited, but was unimpressed with the rest of the town and all the tacky tourist shops. The area around the town is beautiful, so hopefully you’ll have some time to see the countryside.
