Day trip to Pontevedra or coastal areas from Santiago de Compostela

Hi there,
We will be to SDC for three days/four nights in May. Want to do one day trip to either Pontevedra or this area (in quotes):
“Muros & Monte e Lagoa de Louro (nature preserve one hour from Santiago) on the ocean. Also Castro de Barona (historical well preserved Celtic village on oceanfront one hour from Santiago), on the way San Xusto de Toxosoutos - very cool monastery and surrounding sights “Fervenza Toxosoutos”.” And are there any alternatives to this coastal area that would be more scenic or worthwhile?

Willing to only part with one day away from SDC, what would you travel experts recommend? We love both historical cities and coastal scenery, natural sights, etc. and will be on our way to Porto for a week after leaving SDC, stopping in Tui/Valenca on our way. We will have a rental car.

Thank you!

The only coastal town in that area I’ve visited is Muxia, NW of SDC. It’s rocky coast, lighthouse, and Nosa Senora de la Barca church are worth a couple hours. The town, maybe another hour.

Have done the all day bus tour from Santiago twice. It goes to Finesterre, Muxia and to a huge waterfall. Lunch is in a fishing village. For 39€, we thought it was well worth the money. The guides do a good job of telling about the history of Galicia and the different landmarks.

We enjoyed walking around Pontevedra, as well as Tui and Valenca. Pontevedra seems to be a bit far for a day trip from Santiago though. Though it was a lovely town and we enjoyed it, nothing struck me as being overwhelmingly cool. Valenca and Tui were both more interesting. Perhaps if I had gone on some sort of walking tour there, I would have more to say about it and appreciate the town more.
