Day trip to Córdoba from Granada

Hi everyone -

My fiancé and have three days in Granada and would like to use our third day (a Saturday) to explore Córdoba. Does anyone have recommendations on tour companies? Advice if I should book in advance online or book it through our hotel once we're on the ground?

I found this online but can't gauge if this is a good price or not: http://www.viator.com/tours/Granada/Private-Tour-Cordoba-Day-Trip-from-Granada/d554-3443G7P

Also welcome are suggestions on other day trips that would be good out of Granada.

Thanks!

Angella,

I would not recommend doing a day trip to Córdoba from Granada, as it will be a very long day, since it will take about 2 hours each way.

I'd suggest taking a day trip to Córdoba from Sevilla instead (travel time 45 minutes via AVE train)

I read on your previous post that you plan to visit Sevilla, right?

Edit: Córdoba's historic center is very compact & easy to tour on your own.

I agree with Priscilla. Cordoba is not really close enough for a daytrip from Granada. You'd waste a lot of time and 3 days in Granada can be filled or visit a nearby small town. The White Hill towns are close enough to visit in a day.

Support the other two. Seville would be a much better site for a day trip to Cordoba.

A day trip from Granada to Cordoba is a good idea.
Stay in Granada but go there and back by bus.
You don't need a guided tour just get a bus here

Thanks all. I realized Córdoba was a better day trip from Seville after we had booked our trains and hotels. I'm starting to think now a third day in Granada would be better spent exploring another city nearby. Is it difficult to change dates for Renfe tickets after they've been purchased? If so, I like the suggestion of White Hills though, or perhaps Nerja.

That depends entirely on what type of ticket you bought. A full fare ticket can be changed or refunded. A fully discounted ticket cannot be changed. A mid-tier discounted ticket can be changed but not refunded.

Google "Sierra Villages" as there are a number of interesting experiences to be gained right at the doorstep to Granada.

Three days in Granada is not too much in my opinion. Granada was probably my favorite town we visited in Spain. (We just got back 5 days ago). We also had gorgeous weather while we were there and had an awesome apartment in the Albayzin in with a large terrace overlooking the Alhambra, so this may have a lot to do with my thoughts on this town. It seemed to have a more laid back smaller town feel to it.
