Hi,
Would like to take a day trip , perhaps a hike in that area this fall.
Public transportation or hire a private taxi?
Any suggestions on what to do when there?

Alsa runs the buses to Bubion 3x per day (maybe fewer on Sundays, I don't know). But it takes over two hours and first departure isn't until 10am. So maybe cab there, and bus back?

I took the bus there in May. I don't know whether the bus schedule will change for the fall, but even if not, it might limit your ability to do significant hiking. However, I believe bus service is more frequent to the larger town of Orgiva, so perhaps just a taxi between Orgiva and Bubion in one direction would widen your hiking window significantly.
