Day trip to beach near Seville

I am planning to take a day trip to a beach near Seville in early April.

Can you recommend a beautiful and clean beach, with lots of places to walk near the water, options for lunch/dinner, and some shops?
I have heard that Matalascanas is very dirty. So would love to hear some better options. Thank you.

It’s so early in the season, I fear weather may not cooperate, in that case Cadiz is a great option. Assuming you are traveling by train, that’s where you will most likely have to pass through first before switching to bus to reach a bus. The beaches below Vejer de la Frontera looked very nice, pretty orange sand.
Another nice idea might be to plan a trip to Donana park.

Any beach will be at least an hour from Sevilla. There are a number of nice ones along the Costa de la Luz, e.g., San Lúcar de la Barrameda, Chipiona, Rota, Cádiz, and a number further east. I’m not sure if in early April you’d want to go swimming. If that’s the case you could walk along the beach in Cádiz and also stroll around the city. It would have shops and restaurants that are open

As the tourist season doesn’t really start until May, many shops and restaurants in the towns I mentioned may still be closed, so you’d have fewer dining and shopping options.

My wife wanted to day trip from Granada to Almuñécar to experience its beaches along the Mediterranean in early May.

The forecast was chilly and overcast, and I knew the waters would be too cold for swimming. (We live in Michigan, so we have firsthand Great Lakes experience!)

But as spouses sometimes do, I relented to keep peace. For the reasons above, it was a waste of our time.

I recommend you not make the same mistake during April while in Sevilla, OP.

I'd go to Sanlucar de Barrameda from Sevilla.

The seafood restaurants there are open.

There's a beautiful beach in Conil de la Frontera, with open seafood restaurants walkable to the "white town."

Next week is Semana Santa so everything that was closed is now opening up.

Matalascanas? I had to look that one up!!! Funny name. Claims to be the longest beach in Spain but it's in Huelva. Looks like the 'dirty" rumor means it suffers damage from recent storms, plus a host of other issues.
