Our family of 3, which includes our 15 year old daughter, is considering a day trip out of Madrid on 12/29. Which would you choose, Toledo or Segovia?
Both are worthy as day trips. Segovia is more compact in my opinion, and
therefore a bit easier to handle. If you go back through the forum, there are
posts that discuss this same topic.
You can’t go wrong but I would go Segovia with a teenager because of the castle.
In Segovia, the Alcázar (Disney castle), the aqueduct and the cathedral are all amazing! And, the city itself is lovely and welcoming. Perfect for a 15 year old…or any age.
I did day trips to both and loved every moment. In hindsight, I felt I should have stayed at least a couple of days in each and cut down my week in Madrid! If you like art and architecture, Toledo is a must-see for the El Greco paintings and the cathedral, and Segovia for the viaduct and several Romanesque churches. Hard choice!
There’s no bad choice between the two. Which you choose depends on what you like to see. If you like castles and aqueducts, go with Segovia. If it’s museums, then you may prefer Toledo. Have a nice trip.
Both are great and you should do both. I still pick Toledo and my favorite city in Spain.
Thank you all for your feedback! All very helpful!
