We will be in Barcelona area feb 12th and am wondering if we have to buy Dali museum/house tickets before we go? It is not a tourist time and we would prefer not to be tied down to day or time yet. We are also looking for suggestions whether to stay 2 nights in Girona or Cadaques? Thank you.
We were there last November and pre-ordered our Dali house/museum tickets for the last entry, just in case, as we were driving from Girona that morning and stopped at the Dali museum in Figueres on the way. There was just one other couple besides ourselves, so that day, al least, we could've just strolled up to the ticket window (at the end of the day). Not sure if they were busier earlier on.
We didn't have a lot of extra time, and were finishing our vacation in Barcelona, so we had just the one night in Girona. We would've liked at least one more night if we'd had the opportunity, so if you can spend 2 nights in Girona, you would be well-rewarded. We spent the night after seeing the Dali house/museum just outiside of Roses, before continuing on to Barcelona.
We went in May as a day trip from Barcelona and just bought them upon arrival - I imagine in February there will be no problems.
You must pre-order online the Dali House tickets in Port Lligat. It is my understanding that you cannot buy tickets at the site, even if they are available. And so few tickets are sold, they easily sell out.
The Dali Museum tickets in Figueres can be bought at the door. Especially in February, you will not have an issue.
Cadaques might not be as enjoyable to stay overnight in February. I'd opt for Girona. But keep in mind that the road to Cadaques is a very twisty mountain road and it might not be much fun to drive after dark.
Thank you all for your advice. We will spend 2 nights in Girona.
Any good restaurant advice!? Thanks.
For the house they MUST be pre-booked but I would imagine you can do that closer to your time.
