Dali Museum or the Rena Sophia

I'm limited on time and was wondering which was the best choice - drop a day in Milan and add a day in Barcelona for a trip to the Dali Museum and house. I've seen the Guernica.
Opinions please.

I would not plan your time around that side trip unless you are really interested in Dali. Personally, I can't stand his art and have found commercial exhibits of it to be readily available.

I'm confused: what does Milan have to do with either? The Reina Sofia Museum is in Madrid. Perhaps you meant to say "drop a day in Madrid?" If you've seen Guernica then doesn't that mean you've been to the Reina Sofia? And anyways, the Reina Sofia Museum is a couple hour museum at most unless you really are into modern art. Cannot that be fit into your schedule?

As for Dali, if his work interests you, then a visit to his museum in Figueres is a must. It's an easy daytrip by train from Barcelona. A lot of people like to combine that with a stop in Girona too.

His house is in Port de Illgat and not really accessible except by car and (only) advanced reservations. If you do rent a car, it and nearby Cadaques are really nice to visit and can be combined with Figueres into a single long daytrip.

Yes, I did mean Madrid. The Guernica was at another location years and years ago - on loan.

With limited time I'd see the Prado. The Reina Sofia except for the Guernica was a bit of a waste of time for us. If you are wildly interested in minimalist art and bad video art, it is worth the time, but with limited time? eh. We went to Figueroa for the Dali Museum and thought it was excellent if you are interested in Dali's art. It is well presented and a good collection.

yes as the world's worst speller I should always look things up. At any rate the Dali Museum is spectacular if you enjoy Dali.

This question is a bit like "apples or oranges?", "still life or landscape?".
2 museums, 2 cities, 2 choices. Who could decide ?? Only you.

My husband and I visited the Dali Museum a couple of years ago and it was one of the highlights of our trip. If you do decide to visit and are interested in a day tour then I highly recommend Explore Catalunya's Ultimate Dali Tour (we did their winter itinerary). The group was very small (7 people) and our guide added so much to the experience. I've not been to the Reina Sofia though, so I cannot help with that comparison.

I was in Barcelona for 4 full days. My sister and I didn't want to rent a car for a day, so we decided to try an organized tour that went to the museum and then to his house. To our surprise I was very enjoyable. We had 8 people total. The tour was through viator.com. I have been to the Reina Sophia and it is beautiful. I think it depends on how much you love Dali. For me, Barcelona was to see Gaudi, my sister loves Dali. Have fun.
