D'oh! Arrive Seville today, didn't research essential advance tickets.

Any sites in Seville where advance tickets are essential, or at least a VERY good idea? I've 6 nights in Seville, so maybe it's not a problem.

I usually research such details a few days ahead, but exhaustion from the hills of Granada meant all that time was used for sleep. Can't imagine how bad it would have been if I hadn't been training on hills at home for 6 weeks.

Dancebert,

It's great that you will be spending 6 nights in Sevilla as there is so much to see & do there.

The only tickets you might want to get a day or 2 before, would be for a flamenco show.
We chose to go to 'Casa de Flamenco', recommended by RS Spain book.
This show is only an hour long & does not include a meal nor drinks, but it's quite worth it.

We didn't book tickets in advance & the line was not long when we visited The Royal Alcazar this past October. We were actually there on a Monday & were treated to s free entry between 4- 5PM.

However, you may want to buy your tickets online to skip the line:
http://www.alcazarsevilla.org.

If you find a long line to buy tickets for the cathedral, you can buy your combo tickets at the Iglesia del Salvador ( Church of the Savior) where there's usually no line, then visit the cathedral afterwards by skipping the line.

On Plaza del Salvador, where the church by the same name is located, there's a great tapas bar, 'La Antigua Bodeguita', with outdoor seating. You'll see it right across from the church, there are small round tables with high stools & white umbrellas.
It's a very popular with the locals & it may be crowded, especially on the weekend.
Don't confuse this tapas bar with the one next door.
We ate lunch there 3 days in a row!

Make sure you visit Triana during your visit!

Enjoy Sevilla!

My daughter (23) and I visited Seville a few years back and followed instructions in the RS book to find a tour with Conception (Connie) -- just showed up and there was room. We had NO advance reservations for anything and had a great time (once we were able to get a room on Spain Day weekend -- talk about not planning ahead!)
Enjoy your stay! We liked the Flamenco Museum and just walking around. Day trip to Cordoba was easy on the train.

My husband and I just returned. We saw a flamenco show, the Alcazar, and the Cathedral/Bell Tower. We did not buy advance tickets for anything and were just fine. The only thing we did was call Concepcion the night before we wanted to see the Alcazar and asked if she had space in her tour the following day, which she did. As someone else mentioned, if you take her tour, you do not have to have advance tickets.

Enjoy!

Consider visiting the newly opened Palacio de las Duenas, home of the late Duchess of Alba. She was quite a character and the buildings and the gardens are beautiful. Since it just opened in mid-March, it's not in the guide books yet.

We spent a week in May in Seville and had no trouble getting into anything. The most amazing thing is the Alcazar and we had virtually no line there either. Definitely take a day trip to Cordoba if you aren't stopping there. It just takes an afternoon, but the Mezquita is absolutely the most wonderful thing we saw in Spain and we also saw the Alhambra and the Prado (both also fabulous, but the Mezquita is so utterly singular).
