Customs Tangier to Spain

My sister and I are taking an early morning FRS ferry from Tangier to Tarifa then connecting to Algeciras to train to Granada. Our question is where do we clear customs? On the ferry? In Tangier before boarding? Or in Tarifa after disembarking?

We want to make sure we've allowed enough time for our transit between Tangier and Algeciras.

We did this just last May and my recollection is that you go through immigration and customs in Tarifa after disembarking. Both are quite perfunctory. The bus station is a pretty good hike up hill from the port, so allow time for that or take a taxi. Have a great trip.

BTW, we are also in Oregon.
