customs in madrid

hello,

we are flying jfk to prague via Madrid. We have a four hour layover in Madrid and we are staying on the same airline for the next leg to prague. my question is: will we have to go through customs/passport control in Madrid if we stay in the secured area?

and second part to my question: we will have to go through customs in prague?

thank you

Dan

you go through passport control when you enter the Schengen area i.e. Madrid

there will be no passport control in Prague but you will go through customs (for goods), but unless you have goods to declare, or are subject to a random check, customs is a non event

The above post is correct. I'll just add that if all your flights are on Iberia, you will be in Terminal 4 and 4S. These terminals are HUGE - be prepared for tons of walking. You will see signs everywhere telling you how long the walk is to your next point; these signs are accurate. I felt like I had been in a Habitrail by the time I got to my connecting flight, but it was otherwise easy.
