My family is currently planning a trip to Seville, Spain. We are considered African American or Black. I would like to know if this will be a safe environment for us. What do the people of Seville think of people with dark skin and how do they treat them?
... you seem to be exporting racial prejudices from your own country. In Spain (in general terms) people don't give a toss whether you're black or purple with yellow stripes, you're either nice or you're not, that's what counts. Andalucians in particular are the most welcoming people you can encounter.
Don't sanitise what you are questioning by using the phrase 'cultural sensitivity'. What you really want to know is if you are you likely to encounter racist attitudes in Spain. The answer is I would be extremely shocked if you did. Since the restoration of democracy post Franco, Spain has become noted for having one of the most liberal and respectful attitudes in Europe.
