Cuidad Real?

I think I remember Ed saying this city is worth a look. It's has a stop on the AVE line--we are trying to decide if it's worth a night or two. We've traveled in Spain several time before--this trip will include Seville, Granada, maybe Cordoba, Zaragoza, and Barcelona.

We like museums, good food, wine and just hanging out.

If you've been to Cuidad Read, what did you think.

If I'm the culprit, it would have been in the context of being an okay place to stop for an afternoon and the night. There's some good places to eat within a block of the main square, a bunch of obscure museums, and of course the Quixote/Cervantes museum. (The Consuegra windmills are about halfway up to Toledo and probably hard to get to without a car.)

It's not much of a tourist destination. Since the fast train showed, up it's become almost a bedroom town for Madrid. It's tidy and would make a good place to live.

What it's really good for is a central spot for poking around the excellent castles of southern Castile - La Mancha.
