Crowds in Barrio Santa Cruz, Seville this summer?

Hi all,

I am finalizing our trip to Spain. We are spending three weeks in Seville (in addition to a week between Granada and Madrid.

Has anyone been to Seville this summer? I was planning on renting an apartment in Santa Cruz but am wondering how crowded Santa Cruz has been. Perhaps we should rent an apartment just outside the neighborhood since we will be there for so long. I just can't find anything quite as atmospheric.

Thanks in advance!

For a stay longer than a few days I'd definitely rather stay in a more local, residential neighborhood. Maybe Triana or something north of Alfonso XII.

Yes, it's been crazy hot there. We are spending most of December there.

Thanks, Scudder!

I did book an apartment outside of Barrio Santa Cruz in El Arenal. My daughter just returned from 4 nights in Paris, and 2 weeks in Nice, Cannes and Beaulieu-sur-Mer. The latter was BY FAR her favorite as the crowds and tourist shops were overwhelming in Nice. Given her experience, I am going to look for an apartment even further away from Santa Cruz.

Since our plan is to spend 3 weeks in December in Seville, we don't feel the need to be in the middle of it all. I was hoping Santa Cruz was an oasis in the city like Old Town Aix in Aix-en-Provence.
