Hi we are in Barcelona and awaiting our tour. Question about the pre tour Covid test. We brought several otc antigen Covid tests with us from the us and wonder if that would satisfy the pre tour Covid test requirement
Thank you
Chuck
Do you mean that you are getting ready to start a Rick Steves tour there in Barcelona?
You should probably email the RS Tour Office, as they will definitely be able to tell you.
My guess is that the answer is “no.” You should be making arrangements to test at an approved testing facility or use a telemedicine proctored test. I am a little shocked that you are asking this question this late in your preparations for the tour, but I hope you have a wonderful time.
This is what it says under "Documents" on the Tour Account page:
"Be able to present a negative COVID-19 viral test (PCR or antigen) taken within 48 hours of the first day of your tour depending on your tour start date. We will notify you by email about specific testing requirements one month prior to the start of your tour."
We haven't had our tour yet, so I can't speak from experience, but it seems like it would, particularly if it is one of the more well-known ones. Were there any tests recommended on that email?
Are you talking about a Rick Steves tour starting in Barcelona this week? I don't see any before March???
Nigel, use the search by start date feature on the website.
I certainly would not feel comfortable on a tour where an un-proctored self test result would be sufficient to join a tour group.
I am a little suspicious on this post since it is the one and only post from this person. They have received an answer. Let's not keep the thread going in case it is a troll.
We got it done local lab 20 min walk from hotel
Not a troll
Lol
Nigel, use the search by start date feature on the website.
How does that work - I thought you had to search the ones you wanted individually
Go to the "Our Tours" page on the website.
Click on the Blue "Search" box
Scroll to bottom and click on "See tours by departure date"
Pick a month
Click on "Begin"
All the tours for that month and their start dates (in order) will show up.
chuckmakerdvm: I hope you post some updates on your experience with this tour. We’re on the same one Oct. 2-9. In case you didn’t know, your tour and a Paris city tour also starting Sunday are, I believe, the first RS tours running in 2022. I’m extremely interested in how everyone handles the testing and mask restrictions, how the guides deal with problems, etc.
Hope it’s a wonderful tour for you. Cheers!
