Covid Test Availability in Seville

Leaving Seville tomorrow (a sunday) to go to Paris, which requires an antigen test within 24 hours of departing. So we went today to the nearest hospital and found out they only do testing Mondays- Fridays… ok… so they tell us to go to the airport for their testing center. We take a cab there and find out their testing site closes everyday at 2 pm and tests are done by reservation only. So we immediately went to their website ( flycovidtestcenter.com ) and made a reservation for first thing tomorrow morning.

Unfortunately we were one of the lucky ones who realized this lack of testing early enough.. while we were at the airport we saw several families show up, with luggage in hand, thinking they could get testing done right then.

So I just wanted to give the heads up to other travelers, as I know the US requires within a day as well… so if you’re leaving on a Sunday, be sure to book an appointment at the airport testing location for Saturday or Sunday before 2 pm.

Hope that helps other travelers!

@TheSwiftTraveler. Is there a reason that you did not bring test kits with you? Several airlines sell Abbot Binax kits for travelers (a monitored testing session via a telehealth proctor). This approach worked for us in Oct. with TAP and AA. If this approach is no longer acceptable to the airline or the arrival country can you please comment. Or, if the test kits are in short supply. Thanks.

Too many folks on this forum keep touting the availability of testing in Europe and that it is easy to get, so some folks may not do their homework to find out what is available especially on the weekend. I am currently at an airport in the Dominican Republic and I was very concerned about testing centers being open on Jan 1 for a 01/02 departure so just carried the self test kits. The downside with the self test proctored kits is that I have had 2 instances where the sealing tape was missing making the test useless. Hence the need for spare kits

@craig - I don’t think the OP was complaining, just letting those who don’t want to self-test that they need to be aware of testing centers’ hours when planning a trip. My guess is many in the U.S. assume testing centers in Europe have hours like here in the states. That isn’t the case and many probably don’t look into it prior to traveling. I read the post as more like a public service announcement. It’s also possible that requirement to enter France came into being after the OP was already in Spain.
